Comeback Daniil Medvedev Secures Maiden Championship in Over Two Years

Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his first title after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has secured 21 titles at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to question if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet rescued four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
